AFTER performing at the “Quote a Poet” session at the Denis Hurly Centre in Durban on September 9, Himeville poet Kyle Allan is asking for support from locals and government departments in order to nurture local talent.

Allan has been reciting his poems since 2012 and released his first “album” Influences in 2013.
“The album consists of kwaito songs and poems and I am working hard on the next one. I want young people to follow in my footsteps and not commit crime.” Last year he published a book, House Without Walls, which drew a lot of interest.
“Municipalities must support young talent to keep people off the streets,” said Allan.

On October 1 he will perform at the Essence Festival in Durban and on October 6 at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
