THE KZN MEC for Health Dr
Sibongiseni Dhlomo visited St
Andrews Hospital in Harding on Monday and was told about several achievements of the hospital, including the decrease in the baby mortality rate.

Dhlomo visited the maternity and female wards and asked patients about welfare in the
hospital and was pleased to see patients recovering well.

The hospital CEO, Mandisa Vane, said the hospital has an
energetic hospital board which promotes proper care of
patients.

“The hospital has maintained a baby-friendly status and the staff are competent in their work.

“In the past few years the hospital received several awards for good performance at the annual MEC Service Excellence Awards,” said Vane at a meeting.

Last year, the hospital was visited by Office of Health Standards Compliance assessors for auditing and scored 89% compared to 72% in 2015.

The 210-bed hospital serves and supports the people of Harding and surrounding areas.
