Items stolen from local school

2018-04-27 06:00

A CASE of housebreaking and theft was opened after items were stolen from Carl Malcomess High School in Kokstad last Friday.

The school in Bongweni Township is not securely fenced and it is suspected that the thieves used open holes in the fence to get inside.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Dumisani Ncongo said colour copiers, five boxes of paint, a heater, extension cord, windows and doors were among the stolen items.

He said no arrests have been made and police are investigating a case of housebreaking and theft.

He asked anyone with information regarding the case to report to the police.

According to a school governing body member, Monde Nondabula, the school has a 24-hour security alarm and a security officer.

He said it is confusing to have this kind of crime committed at the school especially since it is situated within the community.

“Community members from Bongweni need to play a role to protect the school because it is for them.

“Members of the school governing body will conduct meetings to inform people to own and protect the school,” said Nondabula.
