RELIGIOUS leaders, politicians, and community members gathered at Umzimkhulu town to pray for a peaceful KwaZulu-Natal Province yesterday, calling for calm in the political sphere as well.

The prayer started with a march, starting 5km away from Umzimkhulu town and ending at Clydesdale Hall, which led to the main event.

Human Settlements and Public Works MEC Ravi Pillay was among the attendees, which also included congregants wearing religious regalia from different churches who were holding placards calling for peace. Prayers were made for an end to political related killings in the district, crime, taxi and gender based violence, and social ills.

“There must be political peace in the province,” said Pillay who was deployed by the KZN Premier to champion the Harry Gwala District prayer.
