SCORES of people braved the chilly weather on Saturday, September 8, as they participated in large numbers at a local fun run and walk hosted by Kokstad Link Pharmacy Runners Club and sponsors. Organisers were pleased with the turnout and called for more people to participate at next year’s event.

One of the event organisers, Lia Ntoa, said over 400 people participated at this year’s event. She thanked sponsors for supporting the event, including runners.

“We promote running for people to stay healthy,” she said.

Attendees had the option to participate in a 5km walk and run or an 8km run and winners were awarded prizes.

At the event, Sinovuyo Lila, Asanda Dzelwa and Thahle Yanga showed excitement when they finished the 5km run.

Vuyisani Notshutsha came first in the 8km race, at a time of 30 minutes, and was followed by Wesley De Kock at 31:45 and Denela Mabusela at 31:48.

Participants also enjoyed aerobics, music and beverages and were entertained by radio personality Simbongile Mbo from Alfred Nzo Community Radio.
