KEHS wins their third Spar

Tournament

On April 22 the King Edward High School first girls’ hockey team took part in the Spar KZN School Girls’ Hockey Challenge hosted by Suid-Natal High School. KEHS played four matches against Scottburgh, South City, Ixopo and Port Shepstone in their pool. They won three and drew one without conceding any goals.

Thereafter KEHS went through to the semi-finals to play against Kokstad College. The semi-finals ended in KEHS’ favour with a 2-0 win against Kokstad College which put them through to the final round against Creston College.

After another brilliant effort, King Edward beat Creston College 3-0, thus winning the tournament for a third consecutive year. This victory ensures the KEHS team a place in the finals in Durban on July 21 to July 23.

The school thanks all the supporters as well as the coach Dr Duminy, the manager Mrs du Randt and the bus driver Richard.

KEHS rugby to Dordrecht

Last week King Edward High School rugby teams travelled to Dordrecht to play the first games of the season. The first rugby team match was a tight affair with both teams giving their best. King Edward was the first to score, but was unable to convert the try. During the second half KEHS managed to score and convert another try. Dordrecht fought back and scored their first try in the second half without being able to convert. By fulltime the score was 12-7 in KEHS’ favour. KEHS then managed to squeeze in a last-minute penalty kick, ensuring a final score of 15-7.

The U13 rugby boys also had a nail-biting game against which they lost 20-19. Well done to all the boys who played.

KEHS at KJS Hockey and Rugby Festival

On April 22 the first U13 hockey and rugby teams participated in Kokstad Junior School’s annual first team hockey and Sevens Rugby Festival. The teams did exceptionally well and kept KEHS’ flag flying high. The results are as follow:

U13 rugby: won 9-0 against Richmond, won 4-0 against Kokstad Primary School, won 5-0 against Kokstad Junior School (Sharks), drew one all against St Monica’s and won 5-0 against Underberg Primary.

U13 hockey: drew 0-0 against St Monicas, drew one all against Kokstad Junior School and won 1-0 against Kokstad Primary.

Well done to all the learners who played and thank you to all to the coaches and supporters.
