Pigs, cows, tractors – farm life for Grade 2’s

LAST week the King Edward High School Grade 2 classes visited Fritz Nel’s farm and experienced the ins and outs of farm life.

On the chilly morning, the first stop was the pig sty where the pupils watched the sows and piglets being fed.

After enjoying the antics of the piglets, the pupils tried their hands at milking a cow. This proved to be more difficult than expected, with some stiff competition from the calves.

A tractor and trailer drive followed. The trailer had a layer of mealies which provided much entertainment. After a snack, pupils bottle-fed some lambs and rode a horse.

It was a fantastic, fun-filled day, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Nel for a wonderful outing. - Supplied.
