LAST Thursday, King Edward High held a spring dance for the senior primary. All were dressed in bright colours to mark the arrival of spring and the excitement levels were high. The proceedings started with dinner - vetkoek and juice to fill the tummies. Then it was time for the festivities.

Then the gate-crashers arrived, a chicken, three bees, and a wolf. Teachers opened the dance floor with the never-ending chicken dance song much to the enjoyment and surprise of the pupils. Thereafter all enjoyed the music, tapped their feet and requested favourite dance music. A wonderful evening was had by all.

King Edward hosted the Sisonke Athletics meeting last Saturday and we enjoyed an excellent day of sport. Thank you to everyone involved in ensuring the success of the event.

Forty KEHS athletes will be selected to the Sisonke district team. Of the 15 records broken on the day, KEHS athletes accounted for five.

Congratulations to Bonesa Ramakoai who broke the boys’ U9 60m and Robyn Williams who equalled the girls’ U12 high jump record.

Joshua Sweetnam added an incredible 1.75m to the boys U12 shot-put record and Tristan Phizacklea improved the boys’ U13 high jump record by 5cm.

Finally, Ngawo Sidaza improved the U13 boys’ javelin record by 5.75m. We are so proud of all our athletes.
