FOR the fifth consecutive year King Edward High achieved a 100% matric pass rate.

Congratulations to all the staff and pupils concerned. Of equal significance is the quality of the results achieved, with 85% of our pupils gaining admission to Bachelor’s courses at university.

Furthermore, 75 distinctions were obtained from the class of 42 pupils. The excellent results are further reflected in the individual performances of our top pupils.

Our dux, Amenta Sibi, was among the top pupils in KZN, first in cluster A and attained an average of 94,43%.

Her marks were English Home 84%, Afrikaans FAL 92%, maths 96%, life science 95%, physical science 98%, accounting 98% and life orientation 98%.

Sinalo Nyakambi was recognised as the top pupil in Alfred Nzo West District and achieved straight A’s. Anand Nair with his six distinctions was placed second in the district.

The three were invited to the provincial prize giving in East London where they received bursaries, laptops and cash.

Our teacher Mr Thomas prepared our matrics with expert care and dedication.

It was with great sadness we heard of his death on January 9 after being ill for a number of years. A memorial service was conducted where his many exceptional virtues were extolled.

Mr Thomas was an intellectual giant with unrivalled devotion to his profession and pupils. May his soul rest in peace. - Supplied.
