PHUMZILE Nkosi, who is one of the grannies who live at Elonwabeni Old Age Home in Kokstad, will be turning 100 years old next Wednesday.

When the Fever visited her at the home, she was relaxing with her peers singing gospel songs and having supper.

She wore a doek on her head and had a blanket over her body to keep warm in the cold weather.

Without saying anything, Nkosi smiled and waved her right hand when she was greeted by the Fever reporter.

Caregiver Ntombifuthi Mdutyana said it is overwhelming to have a resident of Nkosi’s age at the home.

“The home is blessed to have a resident who will be turning 100 years old. We are going to make her happy by hosting a birthday party at the home,” said the newly elected board deputy chairperson, Siyabulela Memela.

Memela and eight other people were elected as board members at a meeting held at the home last Thursday.

Memela and the other board members promised the elderly people that they will make the home a better place for them to live in.

He said they want old people to get the right healthy food to help them live longer.
