Kokstad runners to run district marathon

MORE than 1 000 runners are expected to participate in the 2018 Harry Gwala District Marathon which is set to be run on Sunday. The marathon has attracted several runners from across the country and neighbouring countries.

Kokstad runners Zinyuse Maka, Max Gono, Mthuthu Pikoli and Wavela Zwane ran 42 km in The Witness Medihelp Maritzburg City Marathon last week and they say they are ready for the Harry Gwala District Marathon. At the Witness Medihelp Maritzburg City Marathon, Gono finished in 4:27,06, Maka in 4:09,14, Pikoli in 4:30,27 and Zwane in 4:30,35.

The 42 km race will start at 6 am at Ibisi Police Station and the 21 km race at 6.30 am at Umzimkhulu. The 10 km race will start at 6.45 am at Carrisbroke and the finish for all races is Ixopo High School.

The first man and woman to finish the 42 km race will win a car.
