LOCAL vocalist Lindokuhle Mgedezi from Gcilima near Margate has been identified by Themba Sekowe (popularly known by his stage name DJ Maphorisa), who is a South African record producer and DJ who sometimes features vocals in his songs.

Maphorisa’s productions are a blend of house music and Afro-pop. He has worked with notable local and international artists, namely Wizkid, Kwesta, Drake, Black Coffee and Runtown, among others, and is a member of Uhuru.

Mgedezi recorded himself remixing Maphorisa’s hit song Midnight Starring and posted it on Twitter, which caught the DJ’s attention andhe invited him to Johannesburg for a collaboration.

The two have made a potential hit single which has gone viral after Maphorisa posted it on Twitter asking people whether it is a hit or a miss, and should it be released or not.

Amablesser is now being shared on various social platforms and people are crazy about it.

Known for his mind-blowing remixes with his fellow a cappella group White Bread, Mgedezi’s remix got him his one-way ticket to fame.

Mgedezi has many other songs and remixes on Twitter and Facebook — see MLindo the Vocalist —?and the future looks bright for him.

He is currently finishing his studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban and is involved in many musical activities on the South Coast and in Durban.

Mgedezi has confirmed that there are talks of him signing a contract with DJ Maphorisa’s record label, New Money Gang Records. He said he is really honoured. “It’s a very big accomplishment, especially for my career in music. It also puts pressure on me to work harder to go further,” he said.
