LOCAL model Sinoyolo Mbotshwa (23), from Kokstad, was placed second overall at the annual Assupol Mr and Miss Ekasi KZN pageant, hosted at the Playhouse in Durban on October 20.

Mbotshwa, who began modelling at a young age, attended the auditions in May. At the final event he competed alongside more than 100 contestants.

“Modelling is part of my life,” said Mbotshwa, who was very pleased with his achievement, considering that the competition was so tight.

In his spare time, Mbotshwa also does some acting and dancing.

“I started modelling when I was in Grade 10 at Carl Malcomess High School in Kokstad and, after that, I participated in many competitions.

“In 2016, I was placed second in the Mr Mangosuthu beauty pageant,” he said.

Mbotshwa, who is currently studying Human Resource Management at Mangosuthu University of Technology, wants to encourage other young people to follow their dreams.

His ambition is to see young people pursuing their talents and he has visited his former school, Carl Malcomess High, to encourage pupils to take on modelling.
