LAST Sunday, September 30, local netball teams played at Bhongweni Youth Centre ahead of the Greater Kokstad Netball Association league final this month.

The league is played by eight local teams which include New Stars, Hot Shots, Leads, Young Eastern, Young Leads, Cheetahs, Bhubesi, and Tigers. Four teams failed to participate in the games last weekend because players were on Spring Break.

Players from the Tigers team showed tremendous strength, winning all of their games.

The Tigers’ first game saw them take on Young Leads, securing a 27-12 victory. They then went on to beat the Eastern Rangers 22-10 before their final game against Hot Shots, in which the Tigers won 32-15.

Eastern Rangers beat Leads 25-24 before going on to beat Hot Shots 27-8. The Eastern Rangers beat Hot Shots 15-5.

Berbeto Mnikina, the chairperson of the association, said the league tournament was played well with the support of local teams.

He said, before the end of October, netball teams will be training for the preparation of the South African Local Government Authority (Salga) games in December.
