THE Gamalakhe Community Development Foundation (GCDF) and Orlando Pirates player Ayanda “Lesilo” Gcaba will be hosting the Ayanda Gcaba Soccer Tournament at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on December 26.

Polo Mavundla, from the organising team, said the tournament is aimed at introducing an annual festive soccer tournament in honour of Gcaba to identify soccer talent within wards 5, 25, 26 and 28 and neighbouring areas to ensure their graduation to the next level.

Mavundla said the tournament wants to encourage the youth to refrain from using drugs and substance abuse.

“The tournament is open to under 20 teams from the various wards and communities from Bhobhoyi, Gcilima Harding and Murchison,” said Mavundla.

The winning team will walk away with a gold trophy, gold medals and a Lucky’s voucher.

The second-place team will get a silver trophy, medals and Lucky’s voucher and the third team will get a bronze trophy and 23 medals.

Other prizes will include the Player of the Tournament title, golden boots, a prize for the Most Skilful Player and Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Also in the programme is an aerobics session, and everyone is welcome to join.
