Lukholweni constable sentenced

2017-07-28 06:00

THE Maluti Regional Court sentenced Constable Elvis Klaas (32) to 10 years imprisonment without the option of a fine last Thursday.
Charged with attempted murder, Klaas was stationed at the Lukholweni Police Station when he was arrested on September 6, 2014.

SAPS spokesperson Raphael Motloung said Klaas was arrested after he shot a 30-year-old man while on patrol in Lukholweni village in 2014.

“The court heard there was misunderstanding between Klaas and the man, and as a result Klaas opened fire and the man was critically injured,” said Motloung.
