ON October 29, the Kokstad Regional Court sentenced a 20-year-old man to 15 years’ imprisonment for killing Sivuyile Mabindisa on December 25, 2017. Mabindisa was with his friends when a fight broke out between two groups of young men in Kokstad.

“During the fight, Mabindisa was stabbed in the upper body and was taken by a meter taxi to EG and Usher Memorial Hospital where he later died. The suspect was arrested and charged for murder,” said SAPS spokesperson Captain Dumisani Ncongo.

He said the suspect appeared several times in the regional court and was eventually found guilty of murder.
