A TOTAL of 59 Marikana community members were given groceries and vegetables, donated by farmers and organisations, by Thekwini Toyota employees, Khulile Magaqa and Mfundiso Smith last Saturday.
Unemployment is rife in the area and many depend on social grants and donations to survive.

“The car dealership held a programme asking for donations last week and people responded well by donating groceries to help poor families.
“Last year, we donated groceries to needy families in Horseshoe, Shayamoya and Bhongweni,” said Magaqa.

He encouraged people and business people to have the spirit of giving and said next month they are going to donate blankets and hold a soup kitchen for the needy.
