Compliments of the festive season to you,

Can you believe we have just two weeks left of 2018? This year has certainly moved with speed!

With the year coming to an end, and council going on recess soon, I would like to remind you that your municipality will not close shop during this period.

We will, during this festive season, continue to deliver services through our integrated contingency plan for the festive season. So rest assured you will not find yourself stranded.

MAYOR WINDS DOWN THE YEAR WITH BUSINESS OWNERS

Matatiele LM executive committee, led by the mayor, met with Matatiele business owners on December 5 at 5pm to discuss with business owners plans to boost the economy of Matatiele, whilst empowering the designated groups of our community.

Through this engagement, political principals and administration executives of the municipality interacted with the business community to highlight plans in relation to special programmes activities.

Key aims of the engagement were to formulate working relations with the business community.

The municipality presented programmes that the business sector can consider for partnership purposes.

We would like to extend a word of gratitude to all business owners who came through and pledged their support to assist towards the empowerment of our designated groups.

CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR ELDERLY RESIDENT

In a mission to facilitate and coordinate provision of quality, integrated and sustainable human settlement that offer communities a better living environment, the Human Settlement Department brought a smile to a 98-year-old granny.

MEC Babalo Madikizela, joined among others by Alfred Nzo District Municipality political principals, together with Matatiele LM mayor Cllr Mbedla and Morena Sibi, handed over a three-room house to Mme Keletso. The house has furniture with a water tank and a VIP toilet.

Mme Nkoala Keletso of Zikhalini village in ward 4 was in disbelief.

“I would like to thank everyone who contributed towards building me a house that I can call home. I will now be safe and warm as I do not have anyone to look after me,” expressed Keletso.

We wish her a happy stay at her new home.

FALSE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

It has come to our attention that there is an individual whose intentions are to humiliate and discredit the administration of “Matatiele Local Municipality”.

An unknown individual has created a fake account in the name of the municipality and posts deceitful information in our name.

We would like to point out to our Facebook community that our official page can be recognised by the Mama Sisulu and Nelson Mandela centenary official background banners.

Apart from the vicious content posted on the fake page, one can also differentiate between it and the legitimate account by the number of followers.

The following on the fake page will be considerably low compared to our official page which currently has more than 7 600 followers.
