Matatiele Local Municipality

2015-11-11 06:00

WARM greetings to all readers of this viewpoint.
It is our responsibility to ensure that our community is well informed of recent accomplishments at their respective areas.

Municipality promotes public participation through electronic media
As part of promo- ting transparency on municipal programmes, the municipality initiated a programme called the “Talk to your Mayor and Portfolio Head Radio” programme, which aims to update the Matatiele community about departmental plans for the current financial year and progress made on implemented projects.
On Friday 30 October the mayor and all chairpersons of committees (portfolio heads) presented their departmental projects on Alfred Nzo Community Radio from 6.10am – to 8.45am.
I extend a word of gratitude to Alfred Nzo Community Radio management for partnering with the municipality in conveying the message to the public. Through the radio station we are able to reach almost all wards of Matatiele at once.

The same Friday saw Matatiele LM Council and a new member, Cllr Thabo Tshabalala, being elected the Ward 12 councillor. Tshabalala joins the council in the place of the late Cllr Thembinkosi Stuurman who died in June. The Council of Matatiele wishes him all the best in leading the community of Ward 12.

Matatiele Music Festival preparations under way
The music festival seeks to establish an event that would act as a catalyst towards an increase in tourism and potential investors to the Matatiele area during the summer holidays and festive season. It also serves to initiate other tools and a means to contribute to the economic and social development of the community.

This year the festival will be held on 19 December at the old Matatiele rugby fields. Confirmed artists thus far are Matatiele-born brothers, Jaziel Brothers, Zonke, The Soil, Ringo, Nathi, Professor, Big Nuz, Futhi Mahlasela, also from Matatiele, Moneoa Moshesh, Heavy K and Black Motion. Local artists will also be featured - their names will be announced in the next viewpoint.
Tickets will be available from Computicket and Shoprite at R100 general, R180 golden circle and R350 VIP. Keep following this article every week for more updates and our official Facebook page (Matatiele Local Municipality). Tell a friend to tell a friend.
That is all from us for now. Until next time, stay safe and be blessed.
Thank you sweet people from sweet Matatiele, a destination of choice and excellence.
