WARM greetings to all readers of this viewpoint.
Welcome once again to the Matatiele Local Municipality viewpoint. It is our responsibility to ensure that our community is informed of recent accomplishments in their respective areas.

Municipality installs CCTV cameras in Matatiele town
As part of reducing crime around Matatiele town, Matatiele Local Municipality through the community services department installed 13 CCTV cameras.
The purpose is to keep the town crime-free and maintain safety for the Matatiele community. It was discovered that a lot of elderly people are robbed by people pretending to assist them when they withdraw money from an ATM, among other activities.

The public will note that Matatiele has grown as a town, therefore it is our responsibility and the Matatiele SAPS to ensure that our people are safe and crime is well monitored.
We ask people to avoid walking around at night as criminal activities mostly happen after dark.

The cameras are monitored 24 hours and the municipality urges community members to come to the municipality should they suspect criminal activity anywhere.
