2016-04-01 06:00

WARM greetings to readers of this viewpoint.

Welcome once again to the Matatiele Local Municipality viewpoint. It is our responsibility to ensure our community is well informed of recent accomplishments in their respective areas.

The Matatiele Local Municipality believes in providing people with information that is accessible to them, and which they can use to improve their lives, based on their needs, encouraging people to participate actively in the democratic processes. Keeping people continuously informed of policies and programmes that affect them and progress in implementing them.

Promoting public participation and public education

The municipality, through the corporate services department, engaged with the community of Ward 26 in Cedarville. The engagement formed part of enhancing public participation by giving the community of Ward 26 the opportunity of interacting directly with their government leaders.

Cllr Nomasomi Mshuqwana, portfolio head for corporate services led the delegation that visited Cedarville where more than 200 identity documents were distributed by the Department of Home Affairs. Furthermore, the delegation introduced a solar-panel system that can provide power for fridges, TVs and stoves.

Ward 26 councillor, Sonwaile Mavuka, tabled a status quo report of the ward since 2011 to date with the purpose of keeping the community informed about what government has done for the people of Ward 26 and challenges encountered along the way.

Municipal website

Please note that the Matatiele Local Municipality’s official website is currently under construction, which means that website management officials are unable to upload information during this period. However, public documents that were uploaded before the new website development can be accessed at We apologise for the inconvenience during this period.

That is all from us for now. Until next time, stay safe and be blessed.

Thank you sweet people from sweet Matat, a destination of choice and excellence.
