MEC releases human settlements delivery report

Eastern Cape Provincial Department of Human Settlements MEC Helen Sauls-August has released a five-year human settlements delivery report covering the period 2011-2016.

Housing is a basic human right, which is enshrined in the Constitution. The department, through the informal settlements upgrading programme, has reduced the housing backlog in KZN from 750 854 in 2001 to 606 616 in 2011. According to THE Census 2011 report, 7.7% of people in Eastern Cape live in informal settlements (vs South Africa: 13,6%) a reduction from 11,5% in 2007).

The reports contains the exact number of units built, the number of rectified defective houses, number of title deeds and total budget expenditure on human settlements development between 2011 and 2016.

The report is obtainable in all Department of Human Settlements offices and from municipality offices.

That is all from us for now. Until next time, stay safe and be blessed.
Thank you sweet people from sweet Matat, a destination of choice and excellence.
