A DISTRESSED mother, Siphokazi Vellem (24), from Extension 7 asks the Kokstad community to help her find her seven-year-old son, Lwazi Nqobile Vellem, who disappeared on Sunday.

Siphokazi, who lives with her family, couldn't hold back her tears when she told the Fever when she last saw her son Nqobile.

She said he is generally a naughty boy who constantly gets in trouble for stealing.

“My son is very naughty, he always bring stolen things home from school - he is very troublesome. I even decided to keep him out of school because he was causing many problems,” Siphokazi said.

“We were at home and Nqobile was playing outside with his brother and cousin, I had locked the gate so he wouldn't go out because he is naughty. He played for a while, he took a ladder used it to jump out of the yard,” she said.

She said when she last saw him outside the yard he was running very fast.

“I assumed he was running to the shop because I had given him R1 earlier, but I started getting worried because he didn’t come back. At about 4pm I saw him riding a bicycle which was not his as he doesn’t have one. My sisters and I tried to chase him, but he rode the bicycle down the park toward Hope Street and that was the last time we saw him.

“The fact that my son is naughty does not make me love him less. He is my son and I am very worried about him, my whole family is worried.

“I haven’t slept for the past two days. We have been looking for him all over Kokstad, but can't find him.

“I thought he would come back home. I hope he is safe wherever he is,” she added.

Siphokazi reported the matter to the Kokstad police on Monday.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Nqobile is urged to contact Siphokazi on 078 350 8948 or 078 058 9123.

At the time of going to press no comment had been received from the Kokstad SAPS in connection with the child’s disappearance.
