THE opening of the multimillion-rand Indawana High outside Umzimkhulu brought joy to the community and pupils after going for many years without proper classrooms.

The school was handed over by the Department of Education to Umzimkhulu people last Friday.
The school cost government R38 million to build.

Previously the children went to other schools, but now the community has promised to enroll them at Indawana because it has better classrooms.
The school has 640 pupils from Grade 10 to Grade 12. Last year the matric pass rate dropped to 11%, but the school has vowed to improve results this year. - Supplied.
