AT a sod-turning event in Kokstad recently, Greater Kokstad Municipality Mayor Bheki Mtolo promised to resurface the old roads of Kokstad.
The event was also attended by the deputy mayor Karen Walker, councillors and the community at the Power of Love Church.

The contractor who will resurface mid-block roads at Twistvalley and other areas in Ward 10 and Ward 9 was introduced.

Mtolo said that people complained about the poor state of the roads at an integrated development plan road show last year.
“The municipality is responding to complaints by people about the poor state of roads. I will respond to people’s needs, which were highlighted at the municipal road shows,” he said.

The R4,2 million project will take about seven months to complete.
Acting municipal manager Andile Velem said that local people will be employed for the project. He said a contractor is expected to start before the end of March to build the Extension 7 roads.
