‘Music against violence and crime’ to launch

2017-03-17 06:02

CAMPAIGN Institute South Africa is to work with Umuziwabantu Municipality and representatives from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region when launching music against violence and crime in Harding on March 21.

Chief Executive Officer from Campaign Institute SA, Ndumiso Vethe said the Harding community will be educated on ways to fight crime so that the area can become attractive to tourists and investors.

He said safety messages will be conveyed by artists who perform at the launch.
The late gospel artist, S’fiso Ncwane, late Umuziwabantu councillor, Ace Houston, Mshiyeni Wilson Memela will be remembered at the event.

“Taxi bosses that were killed in the area are going to be remembered. There is also a high rate of domestic violence and crime incidents in Wards 1, 2 and 3.
“The number of people that have been killed in the area grew between June and February. Taxi owners were killed last year, including a woman who was killed last week,” said Vethe.

Campaign Institute South Africa is also holding auditions in various municipalities for the formation of Ugu Regional Gospel Choir.
In July, the Ugu Regional Gospel Choir is going to perform at the annual Mandela Weekend Expo in Harding.
