THE Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality Mayoral Cup Games, organised by the office of the mayor, was a huge success and saw the winning teams receiving trophies and medals.

Sport for many of us who come from villages or townships is not merely sport, rather it is a cultural lifestyle and our heritage.
The mayor Cllr N.P. Mncwabe said it is through sport that we learnt how to socialise, keep away from substance abuse, build and strengthen friendships and develop a culture of collectivism and teamwork.

The annual mayoral cup took place on June 16 and was categorised into zones, where four venues were used to stage the games.
As the municipality we pride ourselves on the contribution we are making towards changing the lives of our people, in particular the youth, because we believe they are the future of this country.

Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality Mayoral Cup is that one event that everyone looks forward to being part of. The event focuses on getting the youth of NDZ involved in sport with an aim of developing their talent.

Last Saturday, the municipality hosted the cultural competition finals, the genres that participated included indlamu, isigenke, poetry, traditional dance, etc. The competition aims to develop artists, composers and the various genres as a whole throughout the NDZ area. It ties in with Youth Month with this year’s competition occurring during the commemoration of the 41th anniversary of the 1976 uprisings.
As the municipality we will continue to bring development to our people, we will strive to unearth talent under the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality.
