NDZ viewpoint

2017-10-27 06:00

I want to take this opportunity on behalf of the administration of the municipality to wish the 2017 matriculants around Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality well as they sit for their final examinations.

I wish to remind the Class of 2017 that proper preparation for this period will usher in a new paradigm in their development.

The government has made education one of its foremost priorities because of its potential to contribute in both the industrial and knowledge economy, so our youth are advised to use education as a pillar in their struggle for economic emancipation.

The future is in your hands, take charge of it now and make your community proud. For this period make reading and studying a hobby that will become an investment, which can never be diminished.

As a municipality, we will continue to contribute by recognising excellence in our successful matric pupils. Together with the Department of Education and stakeholders we will continue to support education because it is a vehicle for change.

Matric examinations are a defining moment in the life of a pupil and this is precisely the reason why we encourage pupils to exercise vigilance and guard against complacency. No matter what, remember to love, laugh and enjoy every day and keep the saying “life is about the journey, not the destination” in mind.

Sometimes we are so set on the end goal we miss the other experiences along the road, and it is often those experiences that make the journey worthwhile.

We invite our communities to join hands in support of the Class of 2017 and on behalf of NDZ Local Municipality and in the name of the people of NDZ, I wish the Class of 2017 pupils all the best as they face their final examinations.

I thank you.
