NDZ VIEWPOINT

2018-03-16 06:00

WARM Greetings to the community of the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality. It is with great pleasure that we bring you this week’s viewpoint, which contains news updates and development within your municipality.

Our ever hard-working Local Economic Development Unit (LED) under the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality recently gave Jabhangene Corporative, which is an agricultural project based in Ward 11, an early Easter present.

The LED provided them with the materials that they requested in the previous financial year. The following were provided: fencing wire, fertiliser, fencing poles, pipes and Jojo tanks to store water.

As the municipality, we believe that we need to support all projects initiated by our people, and this project will address issues of food security in our community.

During the previous financial year, the municipality provided the project with intense training on how to keep its project running and ensure its growth. The project started in 2013 but failed along the way because of a lack of knowledge, until the municipality intervened.

The municipality is now busy with the grading of roads in Underberg, Himeville and Bulwer. The aim is to improve the conditions of our roads.

The Underberg library is currently under renovation for the next three months. The library office and staff will be operating at the railway station during the renovations.

We apologise to the public for the temporary inconvenience, but the aim is to improve our infrastructure, and we are slowly bringing development to every corner of our municipality. We are moving at a fast pace and soon we will have covered every community within NDZ.

As the municipality, we recognise the work that has been done by Rheinmentall Denel Munition (RDM), in partnership with the Department of Education, by providing an immediate solution to pupil transport.

They donated 920 bicycles to the pupils of Sonyongwane High School in Ward 8. On behalf of the municipality, we appreciate the work that has been done by the private sector and we strongly believe that private-public partnerships are the future if we are serious about changing the landscape of our communities.

I thank you …
