GREETINGS to all residents of the Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipal area, it is a pleasure to meet again this week.

HERITAGE MONTH

At this year’s Duzi 2 Sani 4x4 Expedition under Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality, South Africans are encouraged to visit heritage sites and promote tourism. The event, which will take place this coming weekend, is supported by the Department of Arts and Culture, Harry Gwala Development Agency, and Jaguar Land Rover Pietermaritzburg.

On Wednesday, September 5, we held a launch of the Duzi2Sani 4x4 expedition.

As a municipality, we are proud to have been part of such a massive event during tourism month, as we are leaders in agriculture and tourism and we are doing our best to capitalise on the assets and opportunities at our disposal.

Traditional music, indigenous games, water slides, and cheese and wine tasting are some of the activities that will be part of the event at the Himeville dam on Saturday, September 15.

The event is growing in leaps and bounds each year, and this year the event is celebrating its fifth anniversary.

Tourism is the bread and butter of our district; it is for this reason that the Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality is utilising our natural attractions to create employment opportunities for our people so that we create a better life for all.

Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality understands and appreciates that the event has contributed to the local economy, as it attracts numerous visitors nationwide. This event will unveil places that people can visit to experience our inland beauty. We are also hosting the event for local entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses.

On Sunday, September 16, a number of 4x4 vehicles will transport the tour delegation to the Sani Mountain Lodge (the highest pub in Africa) in Lesotho where lunch will be served.

Guests will visit Lesotho Village to meet with residents of the cultural village where traditional songs will be sung and the delegation will have a chance to sample home-made bread and traditional hats.

We are inviting everyone from all corners of the country to be part of the event. Entrance is free for everyone and we are promising festivities of fun.

Everyone is welcome to bring their families to enjoy.
