WARM greetings to NDZ Municipality Citizens, this is another week granted to us by the Almighty above.

As we bring you the municipal view point, one must commend the positive feedback that we received during the Heritage and Tourism Month of September and this can only be an indication that we are on the right track as the municipality. For that we are humbled. Nelson Mandela once said that he discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. As NDZ we believe that Rome was not built in a day, so our commitment is to service delivery for our people.

I would like to extend gratitude to everyone who is doing his or her bit to help someone in a society.

Many thanks go to stakeholders such as Social Development, Home Affairs, EDtea, Health, Education, Sassa, SAPS, CDWs, Farmers Association, and the civil society for their immense contribution to the fight against social ills that are destroying our society by playing a part in the war rooms.

As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

The municipality has identified local economic development projects that people can benefit from by forming cooperatives; however the people who must be involved in these cooperatives must have the passion and drive in that specific related field so that we avoid funding fruitless cooperatives.

NDZ municipality is there to support and develop people and this institution will try to uphold its values and commitment in moving NDZ forward.

The other objective of Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma municipality is to bring tourism and agricultural transformation, whereby we would see people who were previously disadvantaged emerging in the tourism and agricultural industry and we believe that the assistance of the people who have been in this industry for years is vital so as to transfer skills and expertise.

The Deputy Mayor will be meeting with farmers in our areas to discuss issues pertaining to farm dwellers, service delivery to the farm residents, and other issues that involve development in a public private partnership.

He will then meet with the tourism stakeholders during the tourism forum, which he is chairing, to engage stakeholders on how we can make tourism work for everyone who resides within the municipal jurisdiction.

KwaZulu-Natal hospitality youth programme is being implemented in our municipality.

We are in the process of placing tourism students in all tourism establishments around NDZ municipal area. These students will receive first-hand experience in tourism.

They will get a chance to translate the knowledge they learned at school into practice.

We would like to appeal to the students who are selected to behave themselves and embrace this opportunity that has been granted to them.

We would also like to mention to the public that the animal pound in Himeville is now operational and people can use the services offered at the pound.

We are also in the process of appointing an environmental officer who will be directly responsible for the dump sites or transfer stations around the NDZ municipality.

The municipality listens and responds accordingly to the needs of our people.

We are aware that we cannot provide solutions to every problem but, working together, we can do more to make our municipality a better place for all.

Thank you.
