NDZ VIEWPOINT

2018-10-19 06:00

GREETINGS to all our residents and the entire community of our district, it is a pleasure that we get to meet again this week.

Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality roadshows aim to bring municipal staff to a rank near you. The roadshows will give consumers an opportunity to speak to municipal officials face-to-face and raise any issues or concerns.

The Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Finance department, led by our Chief Financial Officer Mr Mzimela, has mobilised the municipality’s Revenue and Debtors Service Unit to visit people through the municipality’s Customer Service Roadshows, scheduled to take place at Spar in Underberg from October 16 to October 19. We will also be visiting Bulwer as well as Donnybrook in due course.

This gives consumers an opportunity to speak to municipal officials face-to-face and raise any issues or concerns.

Customers can speak to staff from Revenue and Debtors units as they will be on site.

This programme is part of the municipality’s promise of ensuring that service delivery remains at the pinnacle of the municipality’s function.

As a caring Municipality and as a Peoples’ Municipality, we have decided to reach out to the public, especially to our customers who are unable to come to our offices during the week.

The decision to bring our services to our people is in keeping with our commitment to our Batho Pele Principles and in response to the numerous complaints received from our customers regarding their bills.

These were the sentiments shared by Deputy Mayor Cllr. P. Shange during the launch of Customer Service roadshow.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and NDZ LTT aims to use this month to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease. Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer affecting women worldwide, both in the developed and developing countries.

As the Municipality, we are calling all women of all ages to visit their nearest clinics & hospitals for a check-up. October is also Transport month and, as the Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality, we want to use this month to raise awareness on the important role of transport in the economy and to encourage participation from civil society and business, including the provision of a safe and more affordable, accessible and reliable transport system in the municipal area, working together with department of transport as well as our own traffic department. We will also be engaging with important transport stakeholders such as taxi associations around the municipality soon.

Until next time, stay blessed.
