NDZ VIEWPOINT

2018-11-09 06:00

GREETINGS to all NDZ citizens and the entire district in general, it is a pleasure that we meet again this week to bring you news updates and developments in your municipality.

Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Local Municipality, led by Mayor Cllr Philani Shange, held round two of the IDP Roadshows at the Bulwer Hall where service delivery was the subject of discussion and engagements with our community members.

As the NDZ municipality, we emphasised the need to constantly consult the public because things can change very quickly.

The IDP is reviewed annually.

It does not only determine the status of the identified projects for the previous year but also whether the remaining projects are still relevant and a priority.

The review process incorporates public participation, which gives citizens the opportunity to highlight and prioritise their development needs.

While not all projects may make it onto the budget, there are ways in which some of these needs can be met.

The municipality encourages citizens to participate in IDP meetings to ensure that their needs are made known.

Citizens can also communicate via their ward committees and ward councillors.

On Thursday, November 1, the Honourable Mayor Cllr Philani Shange handed over the material to the co-operatives in the following wards: ward four, five, 10 & 13 — these are the LED cooperatives that wrote to the municipality requesting assistance and their call was eventually answered — they have benefited from the NDZ municipality.

The concept of self-centred development refers to the process of economic, social, cultural, and scientific transformation, based on the mobilisation of internal social forces and resources and using the accumulated knowledge and experiences of the people of a community.

It also allows citizens to be active agents in the transformation of their society instead of remaining spectators outside of the current economic system.

As the NDZ municipality, we also understand that real development would be impossible without the liberation of all previously disadvantaged groups, starting with women.

In this regard, we do emphasise that we cannot transform society while maintaining domination and discrimination against women, and the co-operatives that have benefited do comprise women of NDZ Municipality. We strive to make our municipality A Better Place For All.

Until next time, stay blessed.
