GREETINGS to all the Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality citizens and entire district, it is a pleasure that we meet again this week.

The Harry Gwala Summer Cup 2018 that took place on Saturday, November 17, was a huge success with tight competition between horses from participating districts providing exciting entertainment for thousands of fans in attendance.

The race, which marked its ninth anniversary this year, was attended by thousands of rural horse riding enthusiasts who packed the Race Course.

This year’s competition was highly intensive, the hosts Harry Gwala District earned their bragging rights.

Outdoor lovers, artists, as well as fashion designers were thrilled to be part of such a beautiful event. The event also afforded aspiring fashion designers a platform to showcase their dazzling creations, keeping up with emerging trends.

Hon D. Mayor of Cllr. Philani Shange said the event was a huge success and praised the local community for a great turnout to support the races. He further said the Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality is supporting the development of the event in order to promote rural horse riding.

Besides horse riding contests, this particular event contributes to the local economy, as people from this area are able to sell their products, including hand-made artworks, and local designers got an opportunity to showcase their garments and, for the first time, this year NDZ came up with the concept of homestays where the event participants were accommodated in the homes of people from Edazini. This gave birth to sport tourism at NDZ where local communities benefit by offering accommodation to visitors, LED, and tourism at the highest level.

We strive to make NDZ a better place for all.

Thank you.
