A MATCH between New Stars and Hot Shots netball clubs was held at the Bhongweni Youth Centre last Sunday.

Hot Shots beat New Stars 11-7 after playing under the category Stream “A” with the Greater Kokstad Netball Association league.

Local netball teams have been participating in the league since it was initiated last year.

Berbeto Mnikina, the chairperson of the association said that the league tournament was played well with the support of local teams last Sunday.

At the games, Leads beat New Stars 40-9, Young Eastern beat Young Leads 17-9, and Cheetahs defeated Bhubesi 19-3.

Leads lost against Tigers with a score of 16-21 and Hot Shots lost 7-13 against Young Leads.

Mnikina said that the next games will be played on June 3 at the Bhongweni Youth Centre.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Harry Gwala Netball Association will conduct final selections for senior players in preparing for the national junior champs to be held in Johannesburg next month.

Mnikina who also chairs the Harry Gwala Netball Association said that selections fo­r U19, U21 male players were completed last month.

“There will be lots of training to prepare for junior champs,” said Mnikina.
