A PLOT just outside the Cedarville area has been set aside for the construction of a new mega school which will accommodate two farm schools, said Department of Education Alfred Nzo district director Lungelo Mthatyana.

  • He was responding to an incident last week where G.I. Primary School pupils were taught outside by their teachers who were unhappy about the poor condition of the classrooms. The story was printed on page 1 of the

The school was constructed out of prefab classrooms that now have broken windows and damaged floors and walls.

Mthatyana said the government will be building a new mega school under the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (Asidi) programme that aims to replace those schools constructed from inappropriate materials.

“G.I Primary School and another farm school from Cedarville will be moving to the new mega school once completed. The government is aware that G.I Primary utilises churches to teach and pays rent for this on a monthly basis,” said Mthatyana.

He added that the government has not neglected G.I Primary.

“We have instructed the school to move temporarily into a nearby school while waiting for the construction of the new mega school,” said Mthatyana.
