MATATIELE Local Municipality launched its new R175 000 website, designed by Maxitec, a private company, on Monday.

The new website was launched because the old one was unable to upload everything needed by the municipality, which results in many problems for people who tried to access it.

The new website boasts new features such allowing people to submit service requests, get the municipality events calendar, get municipality forms and reports and other relevant documents.

“The municipality encourages everyone to visit the new site to keep up to date with what is happening in the municipality.

“We also need feedback from users about what they like about the new site and what improvements could be made.

“Investors and business people can also access all our programmes. Residents can post requests and get clarity or anything through the website,” said municipal portfolio head of budget and treasury, Patrick Stuurman, on behalf of the mayor.

Stuurman thanked Maxitec for designing the website and for getting the job finished in the time it promised.

“It’s difficult to work with private companies that don’t finish the work tasked by the municipality on time and people subsequently blame the municipality for failing to deliver.”

Municipality communications and information and communications technology (ICT) staff will undergo five days of training on how to use the website.

Justin heaf-Wright from Maxitec said the municipality can upload public notices and people can also check weather conditions on the site.

“Information about municipality departments and contact details of managers can be viewed as well. It’s easy to use it,” said Wright.

“The municipality has been ‘disappeared’ in the eyes of the pubic.

“We are grateful for this new website,” said municipality ICT and communications manager, Raleting Tsietsi.
