New water plant gives thousands clean water

2017-10-20 06:00

THE Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs launched the Weza Water Treatment Plant in KwaJali outside Harding recently, resulting in 100 000 community members getting clean water for the first time.

Before this people used to get water from a nearby river, which was unhealthy.

“This is a real development and our people are extremely happy because they will now have access to clean water. We have restored their dignity and government will not rest until people get basic services in the province,” said acting Cogta MEC, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo.

Government spent R15 million on the plant. Cogta said 90% of households in the area now have access to clean water. - Supplied
