AFTER not participating in last year’s local government elections, National Freedom Party leader Zanele Magwaza-Msibi said the party will now participate in all upcoming elections.

The NFP was formed in 2011 by Magwaza-Msibi and former members of the Inkatha Freedom Party.
Last Saturday, Magwaza-Msibi was welcomed by party members at a by-election drive in Harding.
After suffering a stroke in 2014, Magwaza-Msibi retired from public duty, resulting in the party not participating in elections.

In Harding she was accompanied by her daughter Gugu Gumede (Uzalo actor) and provincial and local party members.

Magwaza-Msibi’s speech was delivered by her daughter who asked members to work hard to win by-elections.
“Members must go out and speak about the NFP and I will make sure that the party wins the by-elections and the 2019 elections. The party didn’t participate in last year’s elections because I trusted people who had no vision for the party,” she said.

Sabelo Dlamini is the NFP Ward 3 candidate for Umuziwabantu Municipal by-elections on April 5.
The ward never had a councillor after ward councillor Alwyn Ace Houston was shot dead in December 2016.
