GREETINGS to all.

2017/2018 budget and IDP outreach programme concluded

Without public participation, government will violate the expectations of the voters. Once again, such well turnout and participation by the community of Umzimkhulu during this consultative programme proved the importance of public participation. As a municipality, we would like to express our gratitude to stakeholders especially the owners of this programme (communities) for fruitful and matured engagements - Umzimkhulu will never be the same again.

Paying rates proves responsible citizenry

This municipality would not be able to properly render services if communities do no pay rates. It is therefore on that note that we would like to commend the community of Umzimkhulu for continuing to pay rates, although there is huge room for improvement. As we are now in the last quarter of our financial year, we invite ratepayers to pay their rates and further engage the municipality if they have financial challenges for future payments.

Africa Month

As this month is celebrated as Africa Month under the theme “Building a Better Africa and a Better World”, we call upon our communities to recognise the African diversity and create an enabling atmosphere for all Africans to feel at home with the principles of Ubuntu.
We also call upon our African counterparts to add responsible values in society by acknowledging the core values in those areas. This is a month of African pride that needs to be embraced, and we encourage stakeholders to partner in programmes that will embrace Ubuntu in order for Umzimkhulu to be a better place for everyone as we correctly climb the economic ladder.

Till we meet again.
