IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 2018/2023 ICT STRATEGY

In line with its technological ambitions to create an enabling environment for the community of Umzimkhulu to be technologically capacitated, Umzimkhulu Municipality through its IT Unit has conducted training to both municipal employees and some youth. These attendees were trained on website development and building telephone systems.

The ultimate objective of the municipality is to have IT champions in our communities throughout the municipality.

This initiative is not only in line with the 2018/2023 ICT Strategy, but ensure that as the municipality increases its pace to electrify the communities of this rural based municipality, technological job opportunities should spontaneously emerge.

The undisputed factual reality, once again, is that our communities are predominated by youth. On the basis that our youth are the vigilant drivers of technology, the municipality has a responsibility to add this IT infrastructure to elevate this notion.

WORKERS DAY

Umzimkhulu Municipality is the third sphere of Governance, the buildings alone are meaningless, therefore, personnel to ensure that the service delivery programmes are executed had to be incorporated.

It is on that note that municipal workers cannot be defined by the ordinary workers, even the councillors and management themselves are the municipal employees.

What then differs are the responsibilities they are all entrusted with and level of hierarchy for monitoring and evaluation purposes. They all trade their time, intelligence, and sweat for financial remunerations regardless of how much those remuneration differ from a person to a person. As the country and the world commemorate Workers’ Day, we would like to pass our gratitude to all these ladies and gentlemen of substance for ensuring that Umzimkhulu Municipality stands counted for evidently changing the lives of the ordinary South African as prescribed on the constitution.

We furthermore would like to express sincere gratitude to all the workers (service providers) who ensured that they executed their prescribed respective responsibilities with commitment and discipline.Till we meet again.
