Once again, it is that time of the season whereby we need to sharpen our systems and approaches for the next financial year.

We can only do that by reflecting on the previous financial year and interrogate our outcomes. This week is relevantly a week through which the municipality is conducting risk assessments with the Head of Departments and unit heads.

It is quite motivational to witness robust engagements by these municipal employees as they aspire to excel on creating enabling environment for service delivery programmes.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Manqoba Mngqithi Foundation (MMF) for fruitfully hosting such a prestigious soccer tournament over the weekend.

This event has successfully grown to be one of the undisputed crowd-pullers this municipality will always pride itself about.

It has not just created a platform for players but has proven the criticality of private and public partnership, hence SAFA, AVBOB, KZN DSR and Umzimkhulu Municipality part took. As a municipality, we would like to congratulate all teams that part took in this tournament, especially the ones from Umzimkhulu.

Special congratulations go to Clydesdale United for being the 2018 champs and Good Fellas (Umzimkhulu New City Township) for securing fourth place and respectively scooping the prestigious award.

It was quite moving to be witness to about 15 SMMEs being handed over different equipment, as per their respective needs.

These SMMEs are from catering, car wash and sewing sectors.

They all had submitted their needs through the municipal LED Office, to SEDA.

This hand-over boosted confidence to our SMMEs as could not contain their excitement and appreciation for being part of the project. Until we meet again.
