Greetings to all

Having conducted training for the youth sector in the ward committee as part of the aim to sharpen our youth ambassadors moving forward, we ensured that such empowerment was cascaded to the war rooms.

Our Public Participation Unit is receiving monthly reports from both ward councillors and the committee.

These reports entail sectoral activities and recommendations, and assist the stakeholders to develop relevant interventions as per OSS. Performance is defined by the fruitful report to the Public Participation Unit at required intervals. It is also defined by fruitful interventions by relevant stakeholders.

We are currently in a season to reflect on the 2017/2018 financial year to gauge performances of our wards in order to improve during the 2018/2019 financial year.

It was a great pleasure to have been part of the municipal staff appraisal ceremony where employees nominated and voted for their own colleagues for their good performance.

It was inspirational to witness municipal employees in a gathering and rejoicing without formalities as the event was very casual.

We would like to applaud those hard-working municipal employees for winning their respective awards.

This event seeks to enhance team work hence it is prescribed in the team-building principles.

As a municipality, we would like to state categorically that we do support the concept of public participation, hence we are continuously encourage our communities to express their views. Through communities expressing their views, we learn quite a lot and surely the communities also learn as well.

Although we support the fact that our communities should express their views, in the same public-participation principles, we would encourage the same communities to observe the processes for them to be granted authority to embark on public protests.

We reprimand and discourage acts and tendencies of vandalism when engaging in protest because the demolition of infrastructure reverses gains that have been made.

It is our responsibility to protect even those who are not partaking in protests and therefore culprits will be dealt with decisively and unapologetically.

Till we meet again.
