A PROMISING Umzimkhulu gospel artist, Sibongukwanda “Jumbo” Nyangiwe (26), is asking for votes after his song Singenise was nominated in the Best Song of the Year category at this year’s 10th Crown Gospel Music Awards.

The awards will be held at the Durban ICC on November 26.

Jumbo released his first album Jumbo Siyaya last year and has performed his latest song Singenise at many events in Harry Gwala District.

He began singing in the Faith Mission Church choir in Ibisi.

Jumbo was nominated in the Best Gospel Newcomer category at last year’s SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards, but did not win.

At the Independent National Gospel Music Awards (Ingoma) he was nominated in the Best Song of the Year and the Best Album of the Year categories in August, but again didn’t win. To ensure the brings the award back to Umzimkhulu he is visiting churches and schools to get more votes.

“I want the people of Harry Gwala District, in particular from Umzimkhulu, to support me by voting, and I thank God for being nominated,” said Nyangiwe.

Gospel artists Bhabha Chiliza and Khaya Zulu from Umzimkhulu are helping him to secure additional votes. ANCYL Harry Gwala District secretary Qiniso Ntozakhe asked people to support him.

“The ANCYL wishes Nyangiwe good luck and asks people to embrace local talent by voting for one of our shining gospel stars,” said Ntozakhe.

To vote for Nyangiwe send a text “Song Singenise” to 43069.
