UBUHLEBEZWE Local Municipality held a performing arts festival at the Peace Initiative Hall in Ixopo last weekend and people from 14 wards attended in traditional attire.

A parade, including the deputy mayor, Elizabeth Ngubo, went through the streets of Ixopo.

Groups who entertained included ingoma­, isibhaca, igiya and maskandi. Monetary prizes were given to local groups.

“The event has played a positive role in the growth of economy in Ixopo,” said Ngubo.
