Police warn people to safeguard their houses

2018-04-06 06:01

KOKSTAD police are warning people to install extra security in their houses when they depart for the Easter Holidays this weekend. SAPS spokesperson Captain Dumisani Ncongo said incidents of housebreak-ins and theft have increased in the town and townships.

“People must make sure that doors, gates and windows are closed properly. Neighbourhood watch groups must be implemented in communities to curb crime incidents,” said Ncongo.

He added that cases of theft out of motor vehicle had also increased in Kokstad and people are warned not to leave car keys in their vehicles. He said people must also stop leaving their belongings like firearms, laptops, cellphones, handbags and wallets in their cars. “Cars must always be locked and double checked,”said Ncongo. — Supplied
