THE Maluti Regional Court has sentenced two rapists to life imprisonment for crimes committed in November and December last year.

Nkosithethile Sithole (30), was sentenced for raping a 53-year-old woman on December 23, 2016.

The court heard that Sithole was drunk when he met the woman from Skiti village.

“He raped the woman and fell asleep. The woman reported the matter to the police station and he was arrested,” said SAPS spokesperson Captain Raphael Motloung.

Motloung thanked Sergeant Sindiswa Ntloko from Matatiele.

IN another case, a 29-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect his 11-year-old victim, was sentenced to life last Thursday.

The court heard the man raped the girl several times in an unused house in November last year. The girl told her mother, a case of rape was opened at the Maluti Police Station, and the suspect was arrested.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Raphael Motloung welcomed both sentences and commended investigating officers for their hard work. - Supplied.
