PEOPLE were surprised when Archbishop Patrick Zweni, of The Grace Church of Christ in Zion, ran over 10 km as part of a prayer on Thursday morning.

Starting at 9.30 am, he began his run at Shayamoya Township, escorted by Greater Kokstad municipal traffic vehicles. Some congregants handed out water along the way.

Speaking to the Fever, Zweni said that running forms part of good health and he dedicated his prayer-run to the people, to bring peace in Kokstad and to stop the high usage of drugs, crime and political instability.

“I give my body to God by running and I pray for peace among the people of Kokstad. I pray every day, but now I chose to pray silently while running,” he said.

He said running reduces the high chances of getting sugar diabetes and other diseases.

He encouraged other pastors to pray for calm in Kokstad.

Nkosinathi Mbongela from The Grace Church of Christ in Zion supported Zweni and called for people to run to stay healthy and fit.
