AFTER police intervention, a hijacked silver Renault was discovered on March 8, but the person involved in the hijacking, is still at large. SAPS said a 23-year-old man was attacked while driving the car, and was hijacked.

“The man gave the suspect a lift from Ibisi in Umzimkhulu to Harding. Along the way, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the driver,” said SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Zandra Wiid.

The man then fled with the car.

A lookout for the hijacked vehicle circulated and on March 8, it was found through a tracking device and KZN Durban SAPS Airwing. Wiid said police searched the vehicle from the sky and Warrant Officer Gabriel Nel and Marc Wiid from the Port Shepstone K9 Unit also followed the signal which led them to Mabeleni in the St Faiths area and they recovered the vehicle. The suspect fled the scene and the vehicle was impounded for investigation.
